“THE SLIPPERY LEOPARD"

The Leopard Frog only measures about 2-5 inches, but I wanted to prominently feature this character-full amphibian by dramatically enlarging its presence.

The original artwork was a colored pencil on periwinkle cotton rag paper. I depicted the frog emerging from a square shape, that symbolizes the metamorphosis amphibians go through, from egg - to tadpole - to fully-grown adult.

This artwork holds a lot of nostalgic memories of my childhood, where I spend many hours chasing frogs in ponds, located close to the ruined castle in the “Weissenau” nature preserve in Interlaken, Switzerland. Frogs, ponds…and a ruined castle? What could be better for an imaginary kid, right?!

The original drawing measured 20 x 26 inches and has sold, but you can acquire your own unique piece of art right here!
