“MERLIN"

The original colored pencil was drawn using a photo I took years ago at an art festival, where a local wildlife organization presented this charming little Flammulated Owl.

The name comes from its orange-colored plumage that resembles flames, and was the unique feature "sparked" my inspiration to depict the owl at dawn, when the first sun rays appear on the horizon, illuminating the bird’s plumage.

I chose to draw on a black cotton rag paper to emphasize dramatic tension, hope, and the feeling of renewed energy!
